Winter playscheme keeps children busy at Deeplish Community Centre

Date published: 06 January 2022

Children and young people enjoyed a range of activities during their winter break with the help of a playscheme at Deeplish Community Centre.

Around 50 children participated in multi-sports activities plus arts, crafts, circus skills, and enrichment and educational activities.

The children were also taught about community safety, safety online and crime prevention awareness in a session delivered by the Rochdale neighbourhood policing team. The officers also discussed crime reporting methods and the importance of using digital technology in a safe and secure manner.

Police also invited children to look at their cars, and they explained their daily duties.

The children’s work during the week was assessed and selected by volunteers for awards. They also received certificates from police officers for their best behaviour, and participation in sports, arts and circus skills.

Each child enjoyed a hot meal plus fresh fruit and beverages over every day of the playscheme.

The playscheme leader said: “We look forward to seeing such a positive engagement with children and young people during the course of next year.”

The playscheme was supported by Your Trust, and MSV Housing Association.
