Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to enable an archaeological dig to take place.

Start and expected finish: 1 July 2021 - 31 January 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Packer Street, from its junction with South Parade up to and including its junction with Nelson Street. And temporary closure of Fleece Street, from its junction with King Street to its junction with Packer Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair the carriageway.

Start and expected finish: 15 November 2021 - Tuesday 23 August 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles, from a point 305 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 330 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles and pedestrians from a point 485 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 364 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary suspension of parking at any time along Dell Road from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 297 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative routes: Market Street, Shawclough Road and Dell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to fix a waste water sewer in the carriageway.
Start and finish: Wednesday 22 December 2021 - 7.30am, Wednesday 13 January 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Hartley Street, from its junction with Rochdale Road for its entire length.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is East Street, Leigh Street and Rochdale Road.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to repair a leaking gas main in the carriageway.
Expected start and finish: Thursday 6 January 2022–8am, Thursday 27 January 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary prohibition of vehicles making left turns from Newgate onto St Mary's Gate.
Alternative routes: the alternative route is College Road, Dane Street and St Mary's Gate.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to install a new water main in the carriageway.
Expected start and finish: 8am, Monday 17 January 2022 - 4pm, Wednesday 19 January 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Abbeydale, from a point 100 metres south of its junction with Howard Street for a distance of 50 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative routes: there are no alternative routes available.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to reset a water fire hydrant and valve lid in the carriageway.
Expected start and finish: 8am on Saturday 29 January 2022 - 6pm on Sunday 30 January 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary prohibition of left and right turns from Albert Royds Street onto Roch Street.
Alternative routes:

  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling north west on Albert Royds Street will be Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road and Cook Street.
  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling south west on Albert Royds Street into Roch Street will be Albert Royds Street, Reservoir Street, Belfield Road, Entwisle Road, Halifax Road and Cook Street.

Reason: to repair a water main supply in the carriageway.
Expected start and finish: 8am, Saturday, 29 January 2022–6pm, Sunday, 30 January 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Water Street, from its junction with Drake Street, to a point 30 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for traffic is Drake Street, Oldham Road, Milnrow Road, Molesworth Street and Water Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: to install a new BT telecommunications cable in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9pm - 11.59pm, Thursday, 24 February 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary one-way working affecting southbound traffic on John Street, from its junction with Halifax Road to a point 89 metres in a southerly direction. Northbound traffic won't be affected.
Alternative routes:

  • The alternative route for traffic travelling westbound on Yorkshire Street (A58) towards John Street is St Mary's Gate, Manchester Road, Drake Street, Milnrow Road and Molesworth Street.
  • The alternative route for traffic travelling eastbound on Yorkshire Street (A58) towards John Street is Yorkshire Street and Entwisle Road.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: to replace a defective frame and cover in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 7pm - 10pm, Wednesday 12 January 2022.
Restriction and location: temporary closure of Market Place, from a point 79 metres west of its junction with Townley Street for a distance of 20 metres in a westerly direction, outside 48 Market Place. 
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Market Place, Long Street, Assheton Way, Oldham Road and Townley Street.
