The owners of a restaurant in Littleborough have been left “devastated” after a fire broke out at the Waterside on Inghams Lane in the early hours of Friday morning (20 May).

A post on the Facebook page for The Waterside Restaurant said that although no-one was hurt, the restaurant “will shut until further notice.”

The statement on their page said: “Thanks for everyone well wishes over last night’s fire. “Obviously Lisa and Kris are devastated and everyone involved, but thankfully no one was hurt.

“But truly thank you for everyone’s concern.

“We will be closed until further notice. Apologies for all those people that have booked celebrations and occasions over the coming days.

“Keep an eye out on this page for updates.

“Can any bookings that are booked in over the next 2-3 weeks please contact us on 07960 316 037 as our phone lines are down."

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 1.26am on Friday 20 May, firefighters were called out to a fire at a commercial building on Inghams Lane, Littleborough.

“Four engines from Rochdale, Littleborough and Heywood fire stations attended the scene and tackled the blaze, using six breathing apparatus, two hose reels, ventilation equipment and a gas detector.
