Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 November 2021 - Tuesday 23 August 2022.
Restriction and location

  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles, from a point 305 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 330 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles and pedestrians from a point 485 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 364 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary suspension of parking at any time along Dell Road from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 297 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative route; The alternative route for vehicles will be Market Street, Shawclough Road and Dell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair a leaking gas main in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 4 May 2022 – Wednesday 25 May 2022.
Restriction and location: Vehicles are prohibited from turning left from Newgate on to St Mary's Gate.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is College Road, Dane Street and St Mary's Gate.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair a damaged water main.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday, 17 May 2022 – Tuesday, 7 June 2022 or until the work is completed.
Restriction and location: Prohibition of vehicles travelling along Moorhouse Fold from a point 30 metres west of its junction with Crossley Street for the remainder of its length in a westerly direction.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To make space for a bus replacement service during rail engineering works.

Expected start and finish: 4am, Thursday 2 June 2022 – 1am, Friday 3 June 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary suspension of parking and loading at any time on the south east side of Station Road, from a point 15 metres south west of its junction with Richard Street to a point 68 metres south west of its junction with Richard Street.
Alternative route: Not applicable.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace an electric mains supply.

Expected start and finish: Monday 13 June 2022 – Wednesday 20 July 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lichfield Terrace, for its entire length.
Alternative route: There's no alternative route for vehicles. Access will be maintained for residents.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install new telecommunications equipment in the highway verge.

Expected start and finish: 8pm - 3.30am each night, Monday 4 July 2022 - Sunday 10 July 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of the slip road of the A627(M) northbound onto Edinburgh Way.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is south east along Edinburgh Way, Queensway then north west along Edinburgh Way.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a BT pole in the footway.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 4pm, Sunday 10 July 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Back Oldham Street, for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: to replace gas mains and other associated works.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 4 May 2022 – Wednesday 13 July 2022.
Restriction and location: the prohibition of vehicles from travelling along Boardman Lane, from its junction with Hilton Walk to its junction with Ellis Lane, and Ellis Lane for its entire length.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Boardman Lane, Manchester Old Road (A576) and Heywood Old Road (A6045).

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: Repair a cable fault in the highway.
Expected start and finish: 7am – 11pm, Sunday 22 May 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary one-way operation of Market Place. Vehicles won't be able to travel south east from a point 20 metres south east of the junction with Bamford Road to the junction with L/Cpl Stephen Shaw MC Way.
  • Vehicles will still be able to travel north west between these points.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles travelling south east is York Street (A58) and Rochdale Road (A6047).

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: To perform maintenance to the level crossing signals and telecommunication systems.

Expected start and finish: 12.01am – 6am on Sunday 5 June 2022.
Restriction and location: Prohibition of vehicles from travelling along Smithy Bridge Road from a point 50 metres north-west of the level crossing to a point 50 metres south-east of the level crossing.
Alternative routes:

  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling in a northerly direction is Smithy Bridge Road, Milnrow Road (Littleborough), Wildhouse Lane, Kiln Lane, Bridge Street, Rochdale Road, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Albert Royds Street, Halifax Road (A58) and Smithy Bridge Road.
  • The alternative route for vehicles travelling in a southerly direction is Smithy Bridge Road, Halifax Road (A58), Albert Royds Street, Milnrow Road (Rochdale), Rochdale Road, Bridge Street, Kiln Lane, Wildhouse Lane, Milnrow Road (Littleborough) and Smithy Bridge Road.
