Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 November 2021 - Tuesday 23 August 2022.
Restriction and location

  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles, from a point 305 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 330 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles and pedestrians from a point 485 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 364 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary suspension of parking at any time along Dell Road from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 297 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative route; The alternative route for vehicles will be Market Street, Shawclough Road and Dell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair damaged electric mains in the footway.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 7 June 2022 – Tuesday 28 June 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Charter Street, from its junction with Oldham Road to a point 10 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Oldham Road, Argyle Street and Clarendon Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace an electric mains supply.

Expected start and finish: Monday 13 June 2022 – Wednesday 20 July 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lichfield Terrace, for its entire length.
Alternative route: There's no alternative route for vehicles. Access will be maintained for residents.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install 4 new sewer connections for a new housing development.

Expected start and finish: Sunday 26 June 2022 – Monday 25 July 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Royle Road, from its junction with Silk Street to a point 218 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Silk Street, Manchester Road and Royle Road. Residential access will still be maintained.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install new telecommunications equipment in the highway verge.

Expected start and finish: 8pm - 3.30am each night, Monday 4 July 2022 - Sunday 10 July 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of the slip road of the A627(M) northbound onto Edinburgh Way.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is south east along Edinburgh Way, Queensway then north west along Edinburgh Way.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install traffic calming measures in the highway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 4 July 2022 – Friday 22 July 2022.
Restriction and location:

Temporary closure of the following roads:

  • Church Stile, for its entire length
  • School Lane, for its entire length
  • Vicars Drive, for its entire length
  • Moore Street, for its entire length

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site. Pedestrian access won't be affected.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install traffic calming measures in the highway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 4 July 2022 – Wednesday 27 July 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Martlet Avenue, for its entire length.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Bamford Way, Wordsworth Way, War Office Road and Norden Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a BT pole in the footway.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 4pm, Sunday 10 July 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Back Oldham Street, for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a waste water manhole cover at the junction with Moss Street.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am - 3pm, Thursday 14 July 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Millfield Grove to vehicles for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for traffic.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council


Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: to replace gas mains and other associated works.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 4 May 2022 – Wednesday 13 July 2022.
Restriction and location: the prohibition of vehicles from travelling along Boardman Lane, from its junction with Hilton Walk to its junction with Ellis Lane, and Ellis Lane for its entire length.
Alternative routes: the alternative route for vehicles is Boardman Lane, Manchester Old Road (A576) and Heywood Old Road (A6045).
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To repair a damaged water main in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 11pm, Monday 20 June 2022 – 5am, Tuesday 21 June 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lance Corporal Joel Halliwell VC Way, from its junction with Old Hall Street for a distance of 121 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Middleton
Reason: To replace a defective frame and cover in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am – 3pm, Tuesday 28 June 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary prohibition of vehicles from turning right from Manchester Old Road onto Lands End Road.
  • Temporary prohibition of vehicles from turning left from Lands End Road onto Manchester Old Road.

Alternative route: Alternative routes for vehicles will be signed on street when the restrictions are in place.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: To hold the Darnhill Festival Parade.

Expected start and finish: 11.30am – 1.15pm, Saturday 2 July 2022.

Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of the following roads:
  • Argyle Street, from its easterly junction with Sutherland Road to its westerly junction with Sutherland Road
  • Argyle Parade, for its entire length
  • Sutherland Road, from its easterly junction with Argyle Street to its westerly junction with Argyle Street

Alternative route: Due to the nature and duration of the event, it isn't necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: To construct a sewer and manholes in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 6 June 2022 – Friday 17 June 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Wildhouse Lane Old Section, from its southerly junction with Wildhouse Lane for a distance of 30 metres in an easterly direction.
  • Temporary 30mph speed limit on Wildhouse Lane, from a point 100 metres south of its southerly junction with Wildhouse Lane Old Section for a distance of 200 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Wildhouse Lane and Wildhouse Lane Old Section.

Area: Pennines
Reason: To hold the Milnrow and Newhey Carnival.

Expected start and finish:

  • The Prohibition of Vehicles Order will be operative from 12.30pm – 2.30pm, Saturday, 18 June 2022.
  • The Prohibition of Waiting Order will be operative from 10am – 2.30pm, Saturday, 18 June 2022.

Restriction and location:
Temporary closure of the following roads:

  • Haugh Lane, for its entire length
  • Huddersfield Road, from its junction with Haugh Lane to its junction with Newhey Road and Shaw Road
  • Newhey Road, for its entire length
  • Dale Street, for its entire length
  • Station Road, for its entire length
  • Equitable Street, for its entire length
  • Harbour Lane North, for its entire length
  • Bridge Street, from its junction with Harbour Lane North to its junction with Dale Street

Temporary prohibition of waiting in the following areas:

  • Haugh Lane, for its entire length
  • Huddersfield Road, both sides from its junction with Haugh Lane to its junction with Peppermint Close
  • Newhey Road, the westerly side from the M62 bridge to its junction with New Street.

Alternative route: Due to the nature and duration of the event, it isn't necessary for alternative routes to be in place.
