Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 November 2021 - Tuesday 23 August 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles, from a point 305 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 330 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary closure of Dell Road to vehicles and pedestrians from a point 485 metres from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 364 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary suspension of parking at any time along Dell Road from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 297 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative route; The alternative route for vehicles will be Market Street, Shawclough Road and Dell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To resurface the duel carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Friday 22 July 2022 – Sunday 4 September 2022.
Restriction and location:

  • Vehicles will be prohibited from travelling along:
  • Queen Victoria Street for its entire length
  • Rhodes Crescent from its junction with Great Gates Road to a point 222 metres in a westerly direction

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace a water mains supply in the carriageway and footway.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 3 August 2022 – Friday 26 August 2022 as and when required.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Ruskin Road, for its entire length in a rolling closure.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Hill Top Drive, Hogarth Road and Balderstone Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace gas mains.

Expected start and finish:

  • The order covering the footpath fronting 106–110 Wardle Edge will be operative from Wednesday 10 August 2022 – Friday 26 August 2022.
  • The order covering the footpath fronting 111–114 Wardle Edge will be operative from Wednesday 3 August 2022 – Friday 19 August 2022.

Restriction and location:

  • Closure of the following unnamed footpaths to pedestrians:
  • Fronting 106–110 Wardle Edge, for its entire length
  • Fronting 111–114 Wardle Edge, for its entire length

Alternative route: The alternative routes for pedestrians will be signed on site.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a new gas mains supply in the footpath.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 9 August 2022 – Thursday 25 August 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of the unnamed footpath behind 107–112 Great Howarth, for its entire length.
Alternative route: The alternative route for pedestrians is Great Howarth.

Reason: To install an electric supply to a new development site.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 August 2022 – Friday 19 August 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Penn Street, for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles. Access will be maintained for residents.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace a water mains supply in the carriageway and footway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 August 2022 – Monday 22 August 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Melbourne Road, from a point 10 metres west of its junction with Melbourne Close for a distance of 13 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for traffic will be Oldham Road, Hill Top Drive and Balderstone Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a new pedestrian access to flats.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 August 2022 –  Friday 23 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Samuel Ashworth Street, from its junction with Lower Falinge to a point 40 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Toad Lane and Lower Falinge.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace a waste water manhole cover in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8pm – 11pm, Monday 22 August 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Whitehall Street, from its junction with Howard Street to a point 10 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Duke Street and Princess Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace a water mains supply in the carriageway and footway.

Expected start and finish: Sunday 28 August 2022 – Friday 9 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of The Strand, from its junction with Mornington Road to a point 107 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Mornington Road, Balderstone Road and The Strand.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair a substation electric mains supply in the highway.

Expected start and finish: Thursday 1 September 2022 – Monday 5 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Jermyn Street, from its junction with Elliot Street for a distance of 20 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Yorkshire Street and Regent Street.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: To resurface the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am – 6.30pm each day on the following dates:

  • Saturday 20 August 2022 – Sunday 21 August 2022.
  • Saturday 27 August 2022 – Sunday 28 August 2022.
  • Saturday 3 September 2022 – Sunday 4 September 2022.
  • Saturday 10 September 2022 – Sunday 11 September 2022.

Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Langley Lane, from its junction with Braithwaite Road to its junction with Hollin Lane.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Hollin Lane (A6046), Middleton Road (A6046), Coronation Avenue, Manchester Road (A6045), Heywood Old Road (A6045) and Langley Lane.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To install a zebra crossing and carry out works to pedestrian islands.

Expected start and finish:

  • The closure of Kingsway will be operative from Monday 22 August 2022 – Friday 14 October 2022.
  • The closure of Kirkway will be operative from 7am – 6pm every day from Sunday 25 September 2022 – Sunday 2 October 2022 as required.

Restriction and location:
Temporary closure of the following roads:

  • Kingsway, from a point 50 metres west of its junction with Kirkway, for a distance of 130 metres in an easterly direction.
  • Kirkway, from a point 65 metres south of its junction with Kingsway for a distance of 120 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: Alternative routes for vehicles will be signed on street when the closures are in operation.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To allow the safe delivery of works required for a new housing development.

Expected start and finish: Monday 22 August 2022 – Friday 26 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Rothay Drive, from its junction with Bonscale Crescent for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: To resurface the carriageway.

Expected start and finish:

  • The suspension of width and weight restrictions will be in place from Monday 25 July 2022 – Friday 19 August 2022.
  • The closure of Pilsworth Road, south west from its junction with Hareshill Road and Airborne Way, will be in place from Monday 25 July 2022 – Friday 5 August 2022.
  • The closure of Pilsworth Road, north east from its junction with Hareshill Road and Airborne Way, will be in place from Monday 8 August 2022 – Friday 19 August 2022.

Restriction and location:

  • Temporary suspension of weight restrictions. Any vehicles exceeding 18 tonnes, laden or unladen, can travel along the following lengths of road:
  • Pilsworth Road, from a point 2 metres south west of its junction with Broadfield Street for a distance of 166 metres in a south westerly direction.
  • Moss Hall Road, from a point 10 metres south of its junction with Grassington Drive for a distance of 208 metres in a southerly direction.
  • Temporary suspension of width restrictions. Any vehicle whose width exceeds 7 feet, six inches, including any load, can travel along Pilsworth Road, from a point 2 metres south west of its junction with Broadfield Street for a distance of 166 metres in a south westerly direction.
  • Temporary closure of Pilsworth Road, from its junction with Hareshill Road and Airborne Way for a distance of 320 metres in a south westerly direction.
  • A second temporary closure of Pilsworth Road, from its junction with Hareshill Road and Airborne Way for a distance of 292 metres in a north easterly direction.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Pilsworth Road, Moss Hall Road, Heap Brow, Bury New Road (A58), Bury Street (A58) and Bridge Street (A58).

Area: Heywood
Reason: To fix a leaking water main in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 9 August 2022 – Tuesday 30 August 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Langton Street, from its junction with Hilda Street for a distance of 25 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Hilda Street, Holland Street, Queen Street and Langton Street.

Area: Heywood
Reason: To resurface the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am – 5pm each day, Monday 5 September 2022 – Sunday 18 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lime Grove for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Littleborough
Reason: To allow access for heavy equipment and machinery.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 6pm each day, Monday 11 July 2022 – Monday 12 December 2022.
Restriction and location:
Temporary prohibition of waiting along the following areas:

  • Riverstone Bridge, both sides for its entire length
  • Railway Street, both sides from its junction with Peel Street for the remainder of its length in a south westerly direction

Alternative route: Not applicable

Area: Pennines
Reason: To carry out electricity jointing work.

Expected start and finish: Monday 22 August 2022 – Monday 5 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Clay Street, from its junction with New Road to its junction with Cecil Street.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Starring Road, Cecil Street and Ashwood Drive.
