Teenagers arrested as multiple police cars attend Middleton disturbance

Numerous police officers attended a street in Middleton yesterday (Sunday 4 August) before arresting two teenagers on suspicion of affray.
At least four Greater Manchester Police vehicles attended the scene on Rosthwaite Close at around 7pm, first following reports of a stolen motorbike, but later to attend a disturbance which broke out on the street.
A police spokesperson confirmed that despite the heavy police presence, the teenagers were later de-arrested, and no injuries were reported.
A statement read: “At around 7pm on Sunday 4 August 2024, officers stopped a suspected stolen motorbike on Rosthwaite Close in Middleton.
“While responding to this incident, a disturbance broke out and two teenagers were arrested on suspicion of affray.
“They were later de-arrested at the scene. No injuries were reported and enquiries are ongoing.”
