Locals invited to sensory awareness event at Number One Riverside

Date published: 20 August 2024

Rochdale Borough Council’s adult care service is set to hold its annual information and advice day for residents with hearing and sight impairments. On Tuesday 27 August, anyone living with a sensory impairment can attend the free event at Number One Riverside, Rochdale, to learn more about the sensory services available.

The event will feature stalls providing information and advice, free hearing screenings, and demonstrations of sensory equipment. Additionally, a range of innovative assistive technology designed to enhance independence in the home will be showcased.

Sensory experts will also be present to answer questions and offer support and advice to attendees.

Councillor Iftikhar Ahmed, the cabinet member for adult care at Rochdale Borough Council, highlighted the importance of the event, saying: “This event is always a good opportunity for people with a sensory need to find out more about the high-quality services, help, and advice we have available.

"Our sensory services help to enhance people’s lives and support them to live independently in a place of their choice. We are also very proud of the assistive technology we provide, making people safer in their own homes, preventing hospital admissions, and helping our residents to retain their independence.”

The sensory awareness event will be held on the ground floor of Number One Riverside on Tuesday 27 August, from 10am to 3pm. For more information, visit www.rochdale.gov.uk/yourevents
