Town centre establishments are clubbing together for an exciting ‘wine tour’ - bringing together some of Rochdale’s best venues and creating a trail for punters.
The Plates & Pours Wine Tour, spearheaded by local business Vinesteins, will see The Baum, The Little Acorn Restaurant, Vicolo Del Vino, and Vinesteins itself uniting, with support from the newly opened Hampton by Hilton, Rochdale.
The brainchild of Austin Hopley, owner of Vinesteins, the tour aims to celebrate Rochdale’s thriving independent food and drink scene. Hopley shared his excitement about the event, saying, “We’re extremely proud to have created a multi-venue wine and food pairing tour, and equally excited that all of the venues we approached shared our vision.
“Working collaboratively with these local businesses has been a joy, and the support we’ve received from the community and local leaders like Nicola Walker from Rochdale’s Development Agency has been instrumental in bringing this idea to life.”
The Plates & Pours Wine Tour is not just another food and drink event; it’s a showcase of the strength and resilience of Rochdale’s independent venues.
“In the face of the current challenges in our industry, it’s crucial to support each independent venue as much as possible,” Hopley added. “This tour is the perfect opportunity to showcase what Rochdale has to offer to our surrounding suburbs and beyond.”
One of the highlights of the tour is its accessibility. Each participating venue will offer a unique Plate and Pour experience for just £10 per person.
This approach ensures that the event is not only indulgent but also affordable for everyone in the community. “We’ve kept our customers’ wallets at heart, ensuring that everyone can ‘spread the love’ without breaking the bank,” said Hopley.
Participants in the tour will receive a specially designed passport to collect stamps from each venue. Those who complete the tour will be entered into a prize draw to win an overnight stay at Rochdale’s new Hampton by Hilton.
Abbie Hindle, sales director of Hampton by Hilton, said: “We are proud and excited to stand by our local independent offering. Sponsoring Rochdale’s Plates & Pours Tour is a perfect opportunity to support the town’s vibrant food and drink scene. We can’t wait to see how much traction it will gain.”
The Plates & Pours Wine Tour promises to be an unmissable event, perfect for anyone looking to explore the rich flavours and unique character of Rochdale’s independent venues. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this tour offers a fantastic way to experience the best that Rochdale has to offer.
The tour kicked off on 26 August 2024, and will now run every Friday evening thereafter from 5pm. Passports can be picked up at any participating venue, so grab yours, collect your stamps, and get ready to experience a taste of Rochdale like never before!
