A female police officer was attacked by a man, and two other officers injured during an incident in a Rochdale street on Sunday (9 September).
Rochdale Online understands that the man punched the officer as police were trying to detain him under the Mental Health Act during an escalation on Denmark Street.
The man continued to throw punches towards other officers who stepped in to help, resulting in the injuries of three officers.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said officers were called to the scene after a 'report of concern for the welfare of a man'.
They said: "At around 4.40pm on Sunday 8 September, we received a call regarding a concern for the welfare of a man on Denmark Street, Rochdale.
"We supported North West Ambulance Service and officers attempted to detain the man under the Mental Health Act in the interest of safety, during which three officers were injured.
"Thankfully they didn't require hospital treatment and are being supported.
"The man was taken to hospital under the Mental Health Act where he will be able to receive the necessary treatment."
