Outstanding Rochdale nurse receives special award

A Rochdale practice nurse has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse, acknowledging the hard work and dedication that she has put into the community throughout her 25 year career.
Nicola Stafford is an advanced clinical practitioner at Castleton Health Centre. She began her nursing career working in A&E, before moving into general practice.
Nicola, who lives in Littleborough with her husband and two children, said: “I decided to apply for the Queen’s Nurse Award as I wanted to make a difference in the community.
"I've just started a project with the youth workers at Rochdale Council, we’re going to focus on mental health and well-being through sports facilities. I'm going to focus on mental health and well-being through sports facilities."
She added: “I really enjoy my job, it's a privileged role being a nurse in the community, being part of people's lives and making a difference. I think it's an honour to be part of that.”
Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care across the country. The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers.
Nicola will be presented with her award on Friday 29 November and she’ll be wearing it on her unform with pride.
