Mayor of Rochdale Shakil Ahmed and the Consort to the Mayor, Councillor Rachel Massey, attended the Professionals Open Day hosted by High Level (Northern Trust) on Tuesday 28 January 2025.
The event, held at the charity’s premises on the second floor of Champness Hall, Drake Street, Rochdale, provided an opportunity for local professionals to gain insight into the vital addiction recovery services offered by High Level.
Following the success of previous open days, this occasion also allowed the mayor and his team to experience first-hand the organisation’s work in supporting people on their recovery journey.
Established in 2002, High Level is a Rochdale-based charity dedicated to helping individuals overcome addiction.
The organisation provides a range of recovery support services, including one-to-one support, counselling, recovery groups, holistic therapies, acupuncture, and a drop-in common room designed to reduce isolation.
The open day commenced at 10am with a meet-and-greet session, during which attendees were informed about the referral process and introduced to service users and volunteers.
This provided a valuable opportunity for professionals to hear directly from those who have benefited from the charity’s support.
A highlight of the event was an acupuncture session, where attendees experienced auricular acupuncture and learned about its benefits.
Limited holistic therapy sessions were also available, with therapists on hand to explain their advantages.
The event concluded with a networking lunch, allowing attendees to further engage with the charity’s team and discuss the impact of its services on the local community.
High Level continues to play a crucial role in Rochdale, providing essential support to those affected by addiction and fostering a sense of community through its holistic approach to recovery.
