Clean sweep for Daisi Daniels at ski championships

Date published: 05 April 2016

Daisi Daniels cleaned up at the U14s Children's Delancey British Championships in Tignes France last week.

The super combi race, a course of super G gates and giant slalom gates. on Monday saw 84 girl and boy under 14 racers and 89 girl and boy U16s cone down the course. Daisi raced into the lead with a fantastic time of 1,04.70 leading the under 14 girls by a massive 2.01 seconds placing her in first over the U14 boys and U16 girls.

Wednesday was the championship super G with under 16 and under 14 racing the same run again - 64 girls. Daisi was second out of the gate and put a fantastic run in to storm into first place with another good time leading by 1.25 - again beating all the Under 16 girls.

Thursday was under 14s giant slalom championship day. Conditions just holding up, with 33 girls racers two runs were confirmed. Daisi put in two good runs in to take first place with another impressive lead of over four seconds.

The last day of the races, Friday, was slalom - not Daisi's strongest event - and with the conditions deteriorating only one run was allowed. Daisi managed the very difficult course to win by a very close 0.08 of a second.

Four wins for Daisi and 400 points, meaning an all-round win for the title of Under 14s Delancey British Champion 2016.

This was the finish to an excellent season for the 13-year-old who attends Beech House School in Rochdale, taking all titles in the Artemis Anglo Scottish Cup & BSA Championships in January, wining the English Championships in February and now the British Championships.

The British Ski Academy, the team Daisi trains with in Les Houches, France, also included Daisi in their U14s girl's team that also came first and the overall club won the best club team trophy too. A fantastic result for the British Ski Academy.

Daisi says she is very pleased with her performance but still needs to work harder in her slalom and is looking forward to next season.

She added: "Very big thanks to my sponsors Chill Factore, Beech House School, Fort Vale and H Rigg Properties, my coaches and fitness coaches throughout the year. Thank you."
