Calderdale Way Fell Relay Race

Harriers competed in the Calderdale Way Fell Relay Race on Sunday 21 May - one of the highlights in the running calendar.

The 80Km (51.5 mile) route was divided into six legs and each team has two runners on each leg running as a pair, making a total of 12 runners per team.

The ‘A’ Team comprised:

Mark Walker, Kay Welsby,Louis McCarthy, Jeff McCarthy, Mark Walker, Richard Stirzaker and Ian Roberts.

They finished in a total time of 7:57:09.

The Mixed Team comprised:

John Mayall, John Bramwell, Nicola Smith, Ross Allen, Matt Cox, Jill Butterworth and Steph Harrison. They finished in a total time of 8:58:03.

The fastest ‘B’Team time for several years.

Chester Half Marathon

Harriers Anna Blomfield, Matt Jones and Ian Stainthorpe ran at the Chester Half Marathon.

Anna was first LV55 in a time of 1:37:34. Next home was Ian Stainthorpe in a time of 1:38:28, followed by Matt Jones who ran a personal best time of 1:41:36.

Run the Moors’

Harriers competed in the ‘Run the Moors’ fell championship races.

May saw Harriers take part in the fourth fell race in the championship, the Foe Edge fell race in nearby Waterfoot.

First Harrier to cross the finish line was Gareth Hunt in 39:09.

First Rochdale lady over the line was Jill Butterworth in 42:05 (fourth lady).

Well done to Karen Conduit who was first LV60 in a time of 1:00:11.
