Cricket: Norden squad players win against Ashton

Date published: 12 June 2017

Norden were left with a fixture mess following the postponement of Saturday’s first X1 Tanner Cup home match against Ashton.

League rules said the game could be played on Sunday, but Norden already had the LCB fixture at Walsden to contend with.

The answer was to field a team of squad players against Ashton, and the result was a win for Norden.

Joe Humphreys top scored for Norden with 28. Ross Collin scored 25 and Dan Buckley 23.

A late 19 from Dean Lord gave Norden a challenging total of 156 on a not too easy wicket.

Ashton were never in with a shout. Dean Lord took two quick wickets, then Dan Buckley took five for 26.

Harvey Fitton picked up two for six.
