Rochdale Hornets sign Lewis Foster on loan

Date published: 14 June 2017

Rochdale Hornets have signed Leigh Centurions' Lewis Foster on loan for the remainder of the season.

Foster, 23, can operate in the halves or at hooker and comes in at a time when Lewis Palfrey and Ryan Maneely are facing a spell on the sidelines.

Foster, a former St Helens junior, made his Leigh debut in 2014 against Doncaster and has played 10 games for the Super League club, scoring his first try against Batley in last year's qualifiers.

Head coach Alan Kilshaw said: "Lewis will go straight into Saturday's squad. He will provide cover at hooker with Ryan (Maneely) being unavailable and going forward he will move into the halves as it looks like Lewis Palfrey could be sidelined for some time.

"We have looked at strengthening in the halves for a while but it was a case of waiting for the right player to become available.

"Lewis has spent time with London Broncos this season so he knows the competition and he went well for them so it's a great signing for us."
