Rugby Union: Littleborough Rugby Union ladies, mini and junior results

Date published: 20 February 2018

In the headline result from this Sunday's Littleborough Ladies claimed a thrilling 29-19 win over local rivals Oldham.

Despite the game being classed as a friendly, both teams were determined to walk away with the spoils, which made for a fantastic spectacle at Manor Park.

Tries from the likes of Harriet and full back Claire Sutcliffe in the first half ensured Littleborough into the half time interval with much to play for.

Further scores from backs Paige Travis and Chloe Mansell and power house Holly Coburn aligned seamlessly with two conversions from Sutcliffe to give them the bragging rights.

The under 13s girls followed in their senior footsteps with a good performance in two difficult games.

The young pink warriors orked well together and definitely improved throughout the day's play to put together a better second game performance.

Away at Old Brodleians, Littleborough under 10s produced a fabulous away performance to outscore a very good young side in Old Brods 14 tries to 12 over two tough games. Taylor Ward was named player-of-the-match but with every single boy and girl putting in a huge effort to gain the slender win it could have been any of them.

Taylor carried the ball well and got our hard yards while there were honourable mentions for Charlotte Price who had her best game yet, Daniel Taylor who ducked, dived and weaved his way through the Old Brods to score some good long range tries and Harrison Dickinson who worked tirelessly hard.

A good performance at old Brodleians for the Under 8s in a historic game. It was the first time the team have played eight side in what will stand them in good stead for next season and seemed to thrive on it; putting in one of their best displays of the season so far.

Littleborough's senior colts slipped to a narrow away day 12-5 defeat to West Park St Helens but found themselves wondering what might have been as they had two tries disallowed.

Next up they face another away day, this time at Lightfoot Green, the home of Preston Grasshoppers in the next round of the Lancashire cup.

The Under 13s  recovered from 25-5 down to gain a 30 all draw at Rossendale.
