Cricket: Young Rochdale cricketers catch the eye

Rochdale Cricket Club’s Junior Section has received a boost in recent days with a number of their talented youngsters being selected for representative cricket.

Harry Butterworth, a promising all-rounder played in the Lancashire League’s Under 14s team which beat the Wigan League at Standish CC last Sunday.

Harry, whose father and grandfather both played for Dale made four not out as the Lancashire League compiled 210. They then bowled out the Wigan League for 160.

Another three players have been picked to feature in the Lancashire Cricket Festival.

Mohi ul Haq, an opening bowler, and Haris Hussain, an all-rounder, have both played in the first team at Rochdale and they will be joined at the festival by 14-year-old leg spinner Kafeel Ali.
