Cricket: Heywood teams for the weekend

Heywood’s first and second teams face key Greater Manchester Cricket League games on Saturday.

The senior side go to Greenmount with both sides battling for survival in the Premier Division.

And the second team entertain Hollinwood, who hold a nine-point lead at the top of Division Four East. Heywood are nine points behind in joint second place with Denton, so victory is a must if they are to keep their title hopes alive.

Crimble also sees action on Sunday when the third team take on Winton.

All games start half-an-hour earlier meaning that the first team get under way at 12.30pm, the second team at 1.00pm. Sunday’s third team game starts as normal at 2pm.

  • Heywood First XI (v Greenmount, away, Saturday, 12.30pm): T Townsend (capt), A Kerr, D Pawson, J Morley, T McQuinn, S Burrill, M Grogan, W Hunt, A Dawson, S Dawson, R Smethurst.
  • Heywood Second XI (v Hollinwood, home, Saturday, 1pm): R Bennett (capt), C Kaye, D Fawcett, C Hilton, J Keyworth, J Mills, T Pagett, R Purser, W Taylor, J Kaye, T Sullivan.
  • Heywood Third XI (v Winton, home, Sunday, 2pm): R Smethurst (capt), M Hood, J Kaye, T Pagett, C Hilton, T Sullivan, J Carter, L Forshaw, E Clarkson, C McNally, R Purser.
