Skiing: Daisi Daniels on the GB National FIS Team

Date published: 17 September 2018

Daisi Daniels, who left Beech House School in July, is now on the GB National FIS Team 2018.

In July she travelled to Tiffindell, South Africa for her first International Ski Federation (FIS) races and came home with two bronze and one silver.

Fiona Daniels, Daisi’s mum, said: “These races are a little tougher than children’s races.

“After the first FIS published list Daisi started with 999 points.

“The aim is to get your points down to as low as possible, to put it into perspective the world champion, Mikaela Shiffrin, is on 0 FIS points for slalom.

“Daisi brought her slalom points down to 80.07 points, placing her third for her year of birth (2002) globally after her races in Tiffindell.

“After only being home for one week she headed out to Australia, putting in some good races before crossing over to New Zealand for even more races.

“The results of these races brought her points down to 66.11 points and on the third FIS list now placed her first in the world in slalom for her year of birth (2002).

“Daisi is very pleased with her ranking at the moment but knows this is only the beginning of the season and must work very hard to try and keep the number one ranking for her year of birth, she says she will try her best to keep the ranking and is looking forward to the coming season.”

Daisi, from Whitworth, will be traveling to Vail, Colorado USA in October where she has gained a place in the Ski and Snowboard Club Vail, to train alongside some of Americas best, where Mikaela Shiffrin herself once trained.

While Daisi is away she will be on a distant learning program from Itchen Sixth Form College in Southampton.

Fiona Daniels, said: “Many thanks to all her sponsors.”
