Rugby Union: Littleborough Girls U13s at Rochdale Girls Festival

Date published: 06 November 2018

The pitch and play event at Rochdale Girls Festival on Sunday (4 November) gave Littleborough Under 13 girls some tough opposition to contend with.

The opening game against an always difficult West Park St Helens saw great centre play from Aimie Boyce and Aaliyah Buxton feed quality ball for tries from Niamh Clegg, Kady Hoyle and Lucy Gregg to seal a victory in the opening game.

A following game against Sedgley Park tested Littleborough's defence to the max whilst Littleborough suffered a heavy try deficit in the first half. The Pink Warriors dug deep with great defence from Isobel Williams anchoring the side. Tries from Alysaa Parker and Clegg nearly stole victory before the clock ran out, in a half they were totally dominant in.

The third game and most thrilling was against Liverpool St Helens, who tried to control the game with physical intimidation. Littleborough responded with brutal defensive play from Clegg, Gregg and Buxton which pushed the opponents on the back foot.

In attack tries for the free-scoring Parker and Williams earnt Littleborough a well-deserved win in a very physical game.

With no subs available all day, the under 13s were exhausted and lost the last game to a skilful West Park Leeds. One pleasing aspect was that the Pink Warriors gave it their all to the final whistle.
