Football: Dan Adshead called up to England Under-18s squad

Dan Adshead has been named in the England Under-18s squad for their four nation tournament in Spain this month.

The 17-year-old is part of a 20-man squad that will face the Netherlands, Republic of Ireland and Belgium at the tournament in Murcia.

He is the first Rochdale player to be called up to an England international squad since 2002.

The midfielder captained Dale in the Checkatrade Trophy tie against Leicester City Under-21s in midweek.

He became Dale’s youngest ever debutant last season at just 16 years and 17 days, and has made a total of 14 first-team appearance so far, having been with the club since the age of eight.

Thursday 15 November – Netherlands – 17:00 kick-off

Saturday 17 November – Republic of Ireland – 13:00 kick-off

Monday 19 November – Belgium – 16:00 kick-off
