Football: Dan Adshead named in League Football Education’s ‘The 11’

Date published: 21 January 2019

Rochdale Football Club’s Dan Adshead has been named in the League Football Education’s (LFE) ‘The 11’ for December 2018.

Each month, 11 apprentices are named in ‘The 11’ and are recognised for their outstanding efforts across all aspects of the apprenticeship programme, both on and off the pitch.

The Dale Academy player was presented with a certificate and a prize cheque on the Crown Oil Arena pitch before Saturday’s Sky Bet League One match against Fleetwood Town, by Academy Manager Tony Ellis.

Adshead, who has been with the Club since the age of eight, captained Rochdale in the Checkatrade Trophy against Leicester City Under-21s earlier in the season, before scoring his first senior goal against Oldham Athletic in the same competition.

The 17-year-old was also called up to England Under-18s side for the first time in November, scoring on his international debut against the Netherlands.

LFE Regional Officer Craig Skinner said: “Dan has made superb progress on the pitch and is already approaching 20 first-team appearances, recently getting his first goal against Oldham.

“Despite Dan’s first-team commitments, combined with his recent England Under-18s call-up for a tournament in Spain, he has shown a great work ethic and dedication to stay on track with his education.”
