Rugby Union: Wirral 14 - 29 Littleborough U15 boys

Date published: 19 February 2019

Littleborough Under 15 boys put pay to the past as they engineered a fantastic 29-14 victory away at Cheshire side Wirral.

Having agonisingly lost to their weekend hosts in the WalesRugbyRocks tour final last April, a superb and clinical performance was in order and boy did the Littleborough youngsters deliver.

A converted try for the visitors in the opening 15 minutes of the first half from Taylor Brady was built on by yet another score from one of the teams stand out players this season Tom Mills. While the conversion did not find its required target, Littleborough held a deserved 12-point lead.

Even when the home side found their first points of the afternoon with a converted try a mere three minutes later, Littleborough weathered the pressure and held out a five point lead going into the half time interval.

What was already an absorbing game then burst into colour once more as Littleborough turned on the gas and entered full charge.

An acrobatic effort from fly half Jack Bennetta preluded a converted score for centre Nyall Hensby as the score hit 24-7 to the visitors.

Another riposte in the form of a seven point try came from the frustrated hosts as they could not handle the quality of this exciting Littleborough side.

To add insult to injury five minutes from time, Tom Mills collected his fifth brace of the season to ensure it would be a happier end to a game featuring these two sides.
