Boro's United Under 11s Stand with Dan

Remarkable 10 year old Daniel Roberts appearance on the sideline was the biggest highlight of the week at Rakewood as his Littleborough Under 11s Boys teammates succumbed to a 4-0 loss against Old Rishworthians Under 11s.

The incredible young man who is having another operation this week to remove a second tumour that has appeared, was pitch side to cheer on his teammates and joined in on pre-match huddles to try and inspire his team mates onto victory. The rest of the team, worked non stop and put in a resolute and energetic performance to dedicate a good performance to their stricken team mate. Unfortunately they eventually lost 4-0 against a strong Old Rishworthian side.

The pre match huddle was a real lump in the throat moment for all who were privileged to witness the close team bond.

A club spokesman said: "Everyone at the rugby club wishes Daniel and his family a successful operation and a full recovery. When we heard that Daniel was asking if he was playing on Sunday morning, it filled us with glee and look forward to hopefully seeing him turn out in the black, green and yellow of Littleborough rugby again."

Under 13s Boys

Littleborough Under 13s Boys put recent poor performances behind them to record 2 wins out 3 away at Lightfoot Green ground in Preston. They went up against a touring team as well as hosts Preston Grasshoppers.

Pink Warriors Ladies

The final piece of action from a busy weekend of action saw Littleborough Pink Warriors Ladies clinch a priceless 27-20 victory against title rivals Workington Finches side at a muddy Rakewood.

Losing the scrum half in the first half, then fly half early in the second half through injuries, the ladies showed great mental resilience to come through adversity to win by a narrow 7 point margin.

Next week the ladies host Sefton from Liverpool in a friendly as they prepare for a crunch final game against Burnley Ladies on Sunday 17 March.
