Back Onside Phase 2 announced

Date published: 17 March 2019

The Rochdale Hornets Sporting Foundation are proud to announce that, on the back of a successful Phase 1 of our Back Onside programme, we will be hosting another round of sessions beginning on Wednesday 24 April.

Phase 2 will be held at the Soccer Factory on Royle Barn Road in Rochdale between 6 and 7pm on Wednesday evenings. The first session will be on the 24 April and the scheme will run all the way through until the end of June.

Back Onside began in January as part of a wider scheme across all of rugby league designed to get men between the ages of 35 and 64 back into exercise.

Mike Wood from Rochdale Hornets Foundation said: “Our sessions have gone from strength to strength and have seen as many as 30 men meeting on Wednesday nights to train together, using rugby league and other sports as a way of improving health through exercise.

“On top of that, we have rekindled key themes of rugby league like teamwork, mateship and fair play, helping some older blokes make a few mates along the way.

“We think that we are the biggest Back Onside group currently active in the UK and look forward to growing even further once Phase 2 begins at the end of April. If you are a man between 35 - 64 and are looking to get back into exercise - or simply know someone like that - then come on down and get involved.”
