Sailing: Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club come 1st, 3rd and 9th in the RYA OnBoard relay race

Three Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club teams for finished 1st, 3rd and 9th Overall with the club’s 9th place team also collecting 2nd in the OnBoard fleet at the annual six-hour RYA OnBoard relay race on Saturday 15 June at Hollingworth Lake.

Conditions varied from pleasant sailing conditions through rain to flat calms with 95 young sailors competing in 17 teams.

Teams had come from Bolton, Wigan, Burwain, Southport, Debdale (Manchester) and Green Withens.

There was good club racing on Sunday 16 June too in excellent conditions.

There were 6 Merlin Rockets out, dominated as usual by Steve Crook and Sally Townend. Martin Brennan led the Solos around the course. 

The previous week had seen 20 Lasers in an open meeting and local sailor, Richard Marsh, took the honours.
