Cricket: Norden v Rochdale in T20 Legends match this weekend

Date published: 16 August 2019

Norden will play Rochdale in an over 35s T20 Legends match at Stag Park, Woodhouse Lane, Norden on Saturday (17 August), starting 1.00pm.

The match is for the Peter Docker Memorial Trophy and all proceeds will go to Blood Counts, which supports the haematology unit at Royal Oldham Hospital.

The Blood Counts charity was launched in March 2017 to raise funds for additional equipment and enhanced facilities in the unit, which treats patients with chronic long-term blood disorders and blood cancer.

Peter, who had two rare blood disorders, was being cared for by the ward when he died unexpectedly, having been admitted for chemotherapy to treat leukaemia.

Peter ran the family stationery business, WH Dockers, with his brother from the age of 16, some 56 years of hard work. A very popular man, he didn’t retire and loved his work and getting out meeting people.

There will be music and a BBQ, and a Blondie tribute act in the evening.

There is no admission charge, but a raffle will be held.

The Norden team will be: Dexter Fitton, Nick Brierley, Phil Docker, Chris Shotton, Stu Fern, Simon Egerton, Mark Goddard, Paul Morrell, Phil Collinson, Chris Humphreys, Hashum Malik.
