There was close racing at Hollingworth Lake on Sunday (23 August) despite the damp afternoon and north westerly breeze. Three different race winners were mainly Solo sailors.
Julian Parry in a Phantom always led the fleet but the handicap placed him 3rd in the first race. That race was won by Mike Smith in his Solo after a battle with Martin Brennan. The second race saw a reversal of these places, with Nick Hornsby joining this close fought result and finishing in third place.
The third race was set on a longer course and everyone completed three laps. This time, 12 years old Jasper Bramwell, in a Topper, kept going and won the race, on handicap. That was an achievement beating Martin Brennan into second place, and Nick Hornsby third. Overall, Martin Brennan was the leader for the day.
