Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club

Date published: 18 June 2021

Conditions varied on Sunday afternoon (13 June) at Hollingworth Lake. Two races were sailed in a good breeze and then calm for the third one.

Although Mike Smith was on form in his Solo, winning the first race and then taking two second places, Martin Brennan’s win in the last race broke the tie in his favour. Third place overall was Martin and Rene Watts in their Merlin Rocket with third and fourth places counting.

Andy Carter only sailed the second race in his Solo and won that. It was good to see two of the club’s young teenagers, Hector Droungas and Jasper Bramwell out in a GP14.

On Saturday, Daisy Fisher and Jasper Bramwell went to a Topper dinghy open event at Rossendale Valley Sailing Club, Clowbridge where, in a fleet of some 30 boats, they finished in second and fifth place respectively.
