Rochdale tennis star, 10, appeals for sponsorship

Date published: 22 January 2022

A 10-year-old tennis star from Rochdale is appealing for sponsorship as she aims to go pro.

Alinane Nkonjera, who is a pupil at Sandbrook Primary School, has been playing tennis since the age of seven and recently signed on to a pro programme at Bolton Arena.

The youngster is aiming to become one of the best on the Women’s Tennis Association circuit in the future, and has already represented Lancashire in various tennis tournaments.

Last weekend, Alinane travelled to Scotland where she reached the semi-finals of a tournament before eventually being bested by Scotland’s number four player on a tie-break after a two-hour match.

The 10-year-old is looking for sponsorship to help cover costs before she competes in upcoming tournaments, including Nationals next month.

Anyone wishing to sponsor Alinane should contact her father Ulanda on 07851 662424.
