Three young boxers from Rochdale’s BTK Boxing Academy won gold
Three young boxers from Rochdale’s BTK Boxing Academy returned from Aston Masonic Hall with three gold trophies on 23 March 2022.
Paulo Da Mata ‘Smokey’,17, boxed an undefeated fighter in only his second fight. A perfectly executed game plan lead to a convincing unanimous decision.
Subhan Khan, 16, made a perfect amateur debut stopping his opponent in round three. Subhan stuck to the game plan to go on to dismantling his opponent round by round, leading to a round three stoppage.
Subhan’s younger brother, Armaan Khan, 14, also stopped his opponent in round two leading to a very convincing win.
All three boxed very good experienced fighters in a hostile environment with many of their fans supporting them ringside.
The fighters knew they had to have a dominant performance to get the judges’ attention – and that’s exactly what they did – as instructed by their head coach.
