Spotland & Falinge Ward
I am delighted to be standing as your Labour Party candidate in the council election on Thursday 6th May.
I hope to join your hard-working team - councillors Rachel Massey and Faisal Rana and to build on their successes in making Spotland and Falinge a better place. I have already made a good start, and I am involved it lots of community and charity work. I know the difference a good councillor can make to our area.
Many people will already know me well, as I was born in Rochdale and lived most of my life in the Spotland area. During the pandemic, I have been busy supporting vulnerable people and I am a volunteer at the local vaccination centre.
Along with your Labour team, we have supported our wonderful NHS by providing hot meals to staff and we have donated over 100 bikes to Positive Cycles, a local charity which refurbishes and then donates them to nurses so they can get to work: they were told to avoid using public transport at the height of the pandemic. I have handed out thousands of face masks to local care homes, shops, businesses and schools to help keep our community safe.
Being a local councillor is much more than sitting in the town hall attending meetings. It's about being an active part of the community. I am passionate about our area. I went to our local schools, as do my children. I use the local shops, doctors and dentist. Your area is my area too and I will, along with your Labour team, work hard to make it a better place in which to live, work and play.
These are my pledges to you:
With your support, I will make a difference to our area and I hope that you are able to give me your vote on 6th May.
