Local Election 2021

Sarah Louise Croke

Green Party
Norden Ward

As a local resident, I want to bring a fresh and sustainable approach to the concerns of people in Norden, including Ashworth, Birtle and Caldershaw.

Rochdale Council declared a Climate emergency in July 2019 but we are still waiting for local Councillors to support effective measures. This doesn’t only relate to our green spaces, but includes taking effective steps to slow the cars that speed through our villages and redesign who and what our roads are for, reduce litter by introducing measures that minimise domestic and business waste, and ensure planning applications (especially new developments) do not lead to an increased use of fossil fuels.

I’m proud to stand behind our local manifesto for Rochdale ‘Greening Rochdale Borough’ and the values, policies and plans contained in it. The Green Party is a party of hope and inclusion and our ideas should appeal to anyone who wants Rochdale to be a happy and healthy place to live and work.

Compared to neighbouring boroughs, Rochdale is being left behind because we haven’t yet elected a Green Party Councillor. We need all our elected Councillors to work with their communities to support the transition to a cleaner, greener lifestyle, but first we need to change the conversation. Put a Green in the room on 6th May.

Rochdale Green party have a local manifesto called ‘Greening Rochdale Borough’ which goes into more detail about our values, policies and plans.
