Local Election 2022

Sarah Jane Kisa-Smith

Sarah Jane Kisa-Smith

Liberal Democrat Party
Castleton Ward

My name is Sarah Kisa-Smith and I have lived in Castleton for around 38 years.

As a brief introduction, I am currently a registered foster carer and have been for approximately 10 years now. I am married to Ramos Kisa, and together we run Kisa’s Kitchen next to the BP garage in Slattocks. I have a daughter, Jane whom I raised in this village, and am a stepmother to Ramos's two adult children. I worked previously for 10 years in clinical molecular genetics in the NHS.

I have been against the destruction of our Greenbelt since the inception of the plans to build on it. As time went on and the plans became firmer, I found that the current council were backing the plans, so I took the decision to stand as a candidate.

I was also at the public meetings with regards to the redevelopment of the centre of Castleton by way of removing all parking on Manchester Road and installing a cycle track.

The public feeling was clearly against this and one of our Labour Councillors did remove his backing for this project following that second meeting. However, once again, this was voted through by the current council. As a Councillor, I would be able to speak and vote against these things which are against the will of our community as a whole.

My aim, if elected by you, is to listen to the views and needs of the local community and bring them to the council. The only way to change what happens in our communities is to change the balance of power of the council.

As such, it would be an honour to serve our local community and fight for the issues which are important to them as an elected Councillor.

Thank you
