Local Election 2022

James Gartside

James Gartside

Conservative Party
Norden Ward

Dear reader, As this is a special one-off election with all three of us for re-election this year, we have submitted a joint pitch to Rochdale Online as we believe that team working is central to us being able to deliver on what you require of us.

We have been a team for eight years and we are delighted to be standing again as Conservative candidates for Norden. If we are re-elected we shall continue to serve the residents of Norden to the best of our ability in the Council and local Forums and in the Community. This year you will have the opportunity to vote three times so please use your three votes to re-elect Councillors James (Jim) Gartside, Mike Holly and Peter Winkler.

You have told us that your priorities, which are also our priorities for the Ward, are:

  • Improving road safety
  • Protecting our moorlands from off-road vehicles
  • No new developments on the Greenbelt,
  • No Clean Air Charging Zone
  • Reducing crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Tackling the cost of living
  • Fair Council funding for Norden

This is a LOCAL election - we are LOCAL people fighting for LOCAL issues and we need your full support to keep on fighting for you. In our personal messages to you      - Jim said “I have lived in Norden for over fifty years and have always been an active member of the community, I enjoy serving the people of Norden and, with your support, I am looking forward to continuing that work with our new Norden communities”

     - Mike said “I have served as a councillor since 2006 and it has been my privilege to represent the residents of Norden. I am always impressed by the commitment of the residents to preserving and improving our local environment, it has been an honour to support you all. If re-elected, I will be the Deputy Mayor for the municipal year 2022/2023 and I will be extremely proud to represent the Borough in that role”

     - Peter said “Living in the village, I understand many of your problems and concerns. I was first elected in 2013 and served as the Chairman of NEEVA, a school governor, a founder member of Rochdale in Bloom and as a member of several local groups. That is why, like Jim and Mike, I will continue to do all that I can to support local groups and businesses, protect our environment and bring funding to our village” We hope that you will support us with your three votes on May 5th so that we can continue working together as your local team, serving the best interests of our Ward and yours. Jim, Mike and Peter
