Rabina Asghar frontline NHS worker a local Liberal Democrat Candidate for Spotland & Falinge.
It is truly a privilege to be standing again to represent Spotland and Falinge. As a lifelong resident of Spotland and Falinge, I want to thank each and every one of you, for the wonderful reception I received.
Thanks to your heart-felt support, you helped in producing an amazing result last year. Whilst canvasing last year, I was reminded all too often, that Labour are not listening and how our ward has been neglected over the last two decades. As a local resident, I understand and feel the pain many of you are sharing with me.
The time for change has come, I am not going to make any empty promises only to reassure you that I pledge to make positive changes desperately needed in our community and help bring an end to the disarray our area has become. My priorities for the next few years will be to:
- Improve the local environment and infrastructure—Including the Turner Brother Asbestos site and restoration of the cobbles on Clement Royds Street.
- Stop reckless speeding across the ward—My petition showed great concern for dangerous and reckless drivers, action is needed to avoid more fatalities.
- Tackle Anti-Social Behaviour head on —Work closely with GMP and PCSOs in the ward to open up better lines of communication with the local community.
- Campaign for more youth service provision —Youth have been hit hard by the pandemic, mental health and wellbeing has taken a toll on all but more so on the youth.
As a girl she helped out her father Ali Asghar the former Chairman of North West Lib Dems and started campaigning with the party in the 1990s.She attended Oulder Hill school and sixth form before graduating at Manchester Metropolitan University.
In her spare time Rabina is keen hiker, she loves the countryside and wants to encourage carbon neutral technology for a clean environment.
