Each year at local election time, many candidates boast of their particular party’s
achievements and attack their opponents. I am not going to do that.
I live in the ward - and see the problems of our area on a daily basis.
It is because I want to bring about improvements in Healey that I am standing for election. I believe I
have shown my commitment to our area by standing many times (the first being in 1992). I will not shirk
responsibility.
Is it good to have all three councillors from the same party?
At present, the Lib Dems have all of the three Councillors for Healey. Is that good for democracy? Do you
believe a little bit of competition would do them good?
Labour cannot win here now that the Brotherod Council estate has been taken out of the ward and parts of
Wardle brought in. The most recent elections in Healey Ward have been battles between Lib Dem and
Conservative.
The traffic congestion on Falinge Road remains a major problem. I have maintained a consistent position.
Chaseley Road MUST be re-opened, that is the only solution to the intolerable delays on Falinge Road.
Ideally I would like to see Chaseley Road re-opened one way from Falinge Road to Spotland Road from
7am - 9am on weekday mornings.
I am proud of our area, and enjoy living here. I want the best for Healey and am determined to get it.
It’s time for a change in Healey.
Together we can win.
