I am asking for your support in the 1 May local elections so that if I am elected I can help bring you better facilities and make Littleborough a cleaner and safer place to live and work.

I’m Littleborough born and bred, and have worked in the area since leaving school. My hobbies are photography and walking in the nearby countryside.

I feel passionately about Littleborough and the need to see improvement. I stood in last year’s local elections, increasing Labour’s support by well over 100 votes – I thank all those who supported me last time and hope they will support me this year.

This year has been particularly bad for Littleborough with the recent floods and the continual housing developments that our current representatives are accepting.

The Liberal Democrat controlled council completely failed to respond to our flooding and seemed only interested in Rochdale town centre. The council just didn’t have a flood plan in place and I’m sure you like me felt let down.

Littleborough is currently served by Lib Dem councillors who have failed to stop the constant house building that’s now going too far for a small village. I don’t believe our services or infrastructure can cope much longer.

I feel the Liberal Democrats in Littleborough are letting us all down and if elected I will concentrate on what the Lib Dems have failed to do. My agenda for change is:

  • More police on the beat, particularly at weekends and at night time
  • Better recycling and refuse facilities to reduce fly-tipping and the grot spots that the council are failing to tackle
  • Better access to Littleborough train station for those with prams or who have mobility problems
  • Traffic cameras at the zebra crossings to reduce vehicles ignoring pedestrians
  • Better and more youth facilities
  • Better planning decisions and a coordinated emergency plan for dealing with floods.
