You will hear and read over the coming weeks that the Conservatives cannot win in this ward. This is simply not true and during my campaign many people who have voted Liberal and Labour in the past will be coming over to the Conservatives because a lot has happened to Rochdale in the past under both Labour and Lib Dem councils, and not for the better.
Since I came to Rochdale in 1973 the town has slowly declined into what, at best, can only be described as a third rate town, particularly when compared to other towns in the region. In short, our town is crying out for common sense leadership – something that only the Conservatives can provide. Look at Conservative run Bury!!
During the election campaign I will not make any promises that I know I cannot fulfill. I am committed to working towards a better and thriving local community in Balderstone and Kirkholt. That means a cleaner and safer town, roads fit to drive on and pavements fit to walk on. These are my priorities and these are the priorities that I expect your Council Tax should be spent on.
