Local Election 2011

William S Hobhouse

William S Hobhouse

Liberal Democrat Party
Bamford Ward

I am standing again for Bamford ward because I am passionate about standing up for local democracy and giving a voice to our communities.

Here are some examples of what I have been campaigning for:

In 2010, I became Treasurer of the Friends of Sudden Library and am helping to keep the mobile library coming to Sudden Village.

In 2009, I set up the Bamford and Oakenrod Area Forum so that more money is devolved to our area and local people can make decisions on how some of the council money is spent.

In 2008, I called the first meeting of the Friends of Springfield Park, fought the proposed driving range all the way, and am now closely involved in making Springfield Park the best park in Rochdale.

As Finance chief in 2007, I delivered the lowest Council Tax increase for a decade.

At the moment I am campaigning for the reinstatement of the 461 bus service between Bamford and Heywood, a vital service particularly for older and young people living in Bamford.

I enjoy working with and campaigning on behalf of the people in Bamford, Brimrod, Marland, Oakenrod and Sudden. Together we have achieved a great deal.
