Local Election 2011

Mahmud Naim

Mahmud Naim

Independent Alliance
Kingsway Ward

I am Councillor Naim Mahmud and I have been successful in representing the Kingsway/Newbold Ward since 2007. I am going to be standing for re-election on the 5th May 2011 as a Councillor with the Independent Alliance Party.

I have been a resident of Kingsway for the past 30 years and therefore feel confident that I have sound knowledge of the daily challenges my local residents face. I have continuously campaigned to overcome problems such as road surfacing, fly-tipping and Housing needs.

Through the role of Vice Chairman for the Township Planning Committee I have successfully bided for local grants which have benefitted local social clubs in our Ward. I am also a member of Rochdale Borough Wide Authority which has stood me in a good position to ensure that our local residents housing needs are met.

Our future generations are of vital importance to the future of Kingsway & Newbold and their educational welfare should be nurtured. That is why I have been a Governor for St Peters C of E Primary School throughout my time as Councillor.

The safety of our community is something our residents feel very strongly about therefore I have been a member of Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service since I became a Councillor and I regularly attend board meetings in Swinton to ensure the voices of our residents are recognised at senior levels.

I have been proud to represent Kingsway & Newbold for the past four years and with your continued support and the ethos of the Independent Alliance Party we can work together to ensure a positive future for all our residents.
