Local Election 2011

Mohammed D Miah

Mohammed D Miah

Respect - The Unity Coalition
Kingsway Ward

I have lived in Rochdale since 1985, and have been actively involved with various local community groups. I have worked for Rochdale Council from 1995 as Technical Officer within the Newbold and Sandfield Renewal area. From 2000 to 2003 I have worked as Community Housing Co-ordinator for the new Housing Development in Newbold/Sandfield in the Kingsway ward. For the last 8 years I have been working for Oldham Council in the field of Housing Regeneration and Community Development. I have extensive experience of working with the council departments, Housing Associations and private companies.

I served on school governing bodies and understand the education system and its implications on our children’s future, i am also an active member of the trade union. As a resident of Rochdale, I share your concerns and want to see some positive solutions to our problems.

As a member of this community, I feel that our voice is not heard in Rochdale council.
If you support me in the forthcoming elections, I can assure you that I will be your strong voice in Rochdale Town Hall.

I’ve resigned from the Labour Party in April 2011 as I felt it no longer stood for traditional Labour values. Under Labour and Liberal Democrats are good at boasting and master of spin. They have let Rochdale down and are hopeless at improving our area. Under their leadership our town slides into decline. As a result I have joined the Respect Party and will contest the Kingsway ward for the party on 5 May 2011 on a platform of opposition to the public service cuts and the rundown of Rochdale Infirmary. I’m proud to stand for a party that expresses values and feels the Labour Party has ditched locally and nationally. The people of Rochdale want regeneration and investment not cuts and job losses. Respect is about defending our communities from cuts, job losses and division. This party open up an alternative politics based upon keeping promises and dignity not abandoned when power beckons.

I belive my robust background in Housing, regeneration and community development work will allow me to make a strong contribution to the community in Kingsway and Rochdale.

It takes Respect to get Respect, Vote Respect, Vote for Mohammed Miah on 5th May 2011.
