It is once again my privilege to be the Labour candidate in West Middleton for the local elections.
It is an honour to represent the people of Langley, Birch, Bowlee, Silver Birch, Hebers, Barleyfield and the Durnford St/Mellalieu St area and I hope you will allow me to continue to support your community by voting for me on May 3rd.
Financially, times are tough but that hasn’t stopped me and your other Labour councillors from supporting our community with:
- Brand new street lighting columns
- Extra support for Demesne & Burnside Community Centres and for Middleton Well Women’s Centre
- Measures to begin tackling traffic problems in Birch & Bowlee
- Repairing the worst pot holes in road surfaces on Langley
- Better road safety outside our schools and more dropped kerbs to help disabled people cross the road
- Bollards on grass verges to stop lorries parking on them
- Supporting pensioners groups and luncheon clubs
- Still pushing for improved parking for residents in the Durnford St/Mellalieu St area
- Extra funding for Truffet Park
I will also continue to oppose the measures of the Tory/Lib Dem Coalition Government that damage our community such as:
- Their attack on our National Health Service that will make our NHS more like expensive health services in America
- Their attack on pensioners: winter fuel allowance, tax allowances and threats to axe bus passes.
