I am delighted to have been selected to stand as the Conservative candidate in the Norden by-election. I have spent the last five years working to improve our ward and with your support on April 25th I would like to continue that work as your new ward councillor.
I live in Norden with my wife and two children and am a firm believer in taking care of our community. There will be no empty promises from me, but a sincere commitment to continue to be here to listen to people and to always act in the best interests of our community.
This is a local election and with your help I can continue and increase my work in the community including:
- I am the Chairman of NEEVA (Norden Environmental & Economic Village Association), supporting local business, employment and community.
- I built and manage the village website (www.nordenvillage.co.uk), keeping local people up to date with, local news, events and essential information.
- I have run campaigns against dog fouling for the last two years with another already planned for this year.
- I encourage use of our village car park and built, installed and maintain the current signage. I have also organised leaflet campaigns with our local retailers to inform shoppers of the facility. More prominent signage is already planned for this year.
- I ensure that our village raises flags for national events such as the Queen’s Jubilee, the Olympics and St. Georges Day.
- Over the years I have reported numerous worn street signs, potholes, damaged bins and other maintenance issues for repair, this is obviously ongoing work but being a local resident I am here to see and act.
- I am a Governor at Caldershaw Primary School but involve children from all our local schools in community projects throughout the year.
- I have been involved with the Rochdale Township in Bloom competition for the last three years. Showcasing the work of local groups at a national level and taking a hands-on approach with new projects including planting and clean-up work.
- During the recent winter weather I volunteers to grit our main highstreet. An area that our Labour run council couldn’t cover.
- I have challenged the council over inadequate management of our recycling when I found recycling waste being mixed by collection operatives.
- I have taken a leading role in organising free community events such as our Christmas lights switch-on and festive market, which bring local people together.
- I have helped to raise funds for village improvements that benefit everyone including benches in our streets and hanging baskets.
- I am a regular contributor at our local forums and community meetings.
- I communicate regularly with our local police to help them to tackle crime, antisocial behaviour and the speeding traffic with causes a nuisance and danger in our community.
Please vote for me and be assured that I WILL ALWAYS STRIVE TO DO THE BEST FOR ALL THE PEOPLE OF NORDEN, CALDERSHAW, ASHWORTH AND BIRTLE.
