Local Election 2014

Rifat Mahmood

Rifat Mahmood

Conservative Party
Milkstone & Deeplish Ward

Remember this is LOCAL Election, not a National Election which takes place next year 2015.

This is a local election for us in Milkstone, Deeplish and Sparthbottom. What what has has happened locally to to us the voters of l Rochdale and my reason for leaving labour to join conservative:-

  • Labour have given us Debt, after Debt and continuance of waste of money
  • £7000 wasted on a Celebrity Chef, how can you justify wasting the money ?we the people of Rochdale need this money to be spent on us, Money that is needed to help our town and you and me who reside here,
  • £50 million pound on a building for the council, Face to face services and administration departments could have been moved to Rochdale town hall now we cant even get the help we need from the reception area in the building as you walk in.
  • debt mountain that stand in millions created by labour council for us living in Rochdale not by conservatives who never been in charge since 1959,
  • Our local Hospital has been taken away from us, by our labour council this not what I or you voted for, (the reason I left labour).if we are suffering heart attacks, children being born they are rushed outside Rochdale, in some cases this has resulted in the loss of lives of people I know. I am passionate about saving lives and helping us get back what we have lost.
  • Land sold for £1 ,when There is Debt to pay and , change is needed.
  • Labour Council has paid the a Management Company over £700,000 on the past three years instead of helping our communities and wards.
  • Did you know one of the new light fittings in the main entrance to the building cost over £16,000. on top of that five tubes cost– £3,250 each.

Debt after debt a continuance of waste of money if you carry on voting labour.
Council tax has been frozen as political electoral game.

My goals if elected

  • To resolve the lack of parking in the Milkstone area
  • The litter problem that we face in our community
  • Improve infrastructure in our community
  • Neglected houses in Sparthbottom
  • to offer referendum to us as residents who live in Rochdale on decisions as to where to best spend the money and not waste it.
  • I want to see hospital back in Rochdale.
  • I want investments to be made in my area to help us, help our children and teenagers, our mothers our fathers and brothers and sisters and our pensioners.
  • If there are is money allocated for our ward it should stay in our ward, and be spent on us in Milkstone, Deeplish, Sparthbottom and not given away or used inappropriately misdirected.
  • I will give the honest facts of what is actually being discussed within the council of Rochdale and it will be open and transparent, you can have access to the accounts so you can see the debt and waste of money it has been spent on by the elected labour council in Rochdale. I am interested in help you properly and we need to know what is going on and why we are suffering at the hands of the labour council. Tell me one thing that they have done for us in Rochdale that is not related to debt after debt and continuance of a waste of money that is not being used to help you, who voted them.

I worked in a cotton mill as a weaver for 2 years after I left school in Rochdale, at the same time I wanted to study and learn a skill, so I got on the bus to go Bury collage just like most of us in Rochdale ,I earned my city and guild of London institute in sheet metal working and welding. I used this skill for 12 years as a sheet metal fabricator. I have also been running my own business (Premier Shoppers World) with my wife Mariam for 28 years.

I am the chairman of the Milkstone & Deeplish business forum, and I’m eager to help my local community to thrive and to bring people in to Milkstone and Deeplish, to make our ward a place not to be avoided, but a place that we can be proud to say that we are from here .I am passionate about this ward and I am here for you and will help in anyway I can to improve our areas and have done so for 38 years since leaving education. Tackling drugs, prostitution, asking for street cameras etc. as some of you are aware when you walk down Milkstone road for crime prevention.

I'm happily married to Mariam who was born and educated in Rotherham, she moved to this ward 30 years ago and is a familiar face at Premier Shoppers World on Drake street/Milkstone road ,we have four lovely children all born in Rochdale, I am sad that my grandchildren will no longer be born in Rochdale because labour have given away the hospital.

The conservatives have never had a chance to help you in Rochdale since 1959, Labour have had chance after chance, year after year and I have voted and Elected them with out realising the damage done to our town. I left labour and joined conservatives for reason.
