Local Election 2014

Carol Elizabeth Wardle

Carol Elizabeth Wardle

Labour Party
Hopwood Hall Ward

I am Councillor Carol Wardle, the Labour candidate for Hopwood Hall ward, Heywood. It has been my privilege to serve on R.M.B.C since first being elected in 2002. Since that time I have served on numerous committees and councillor working parties. I have been the chair of the Licensing and Regulatory committee since 2011, and have always been a member or chair of the planning sub-committees. I attend many license application meetings where I try to find a fair balance between businesses and residents interests. I have been a governor of the former Bullough Moor and Birtle View school as well as serving on the governing body of Holy Family school and Newlands special school. I have taken part in studies into dangerous and dilapidated buildings to improve safety and visual amenity for residents of the borough. I was also involved in the provision of the cremated remains remembrance garden and woodland area at Heywood cemetery. I was a founder member of Heywood against Landfill where I worked with other councillors, residents and landowners to keep our beautiful green belt.

I have been married to my husband Chris for 44 years and have 4 daughters, 3 son-in-laws a grandson who attends Siddall Moor sports college and 2 granddaughters all of whom I am extremely proud. I was thrilled and deeply honoured to be chosen as Mayor elect by the Council, and with my charity committee I am looking forward to raising as much money as possible for my three chosen local charities which are, Springhill Hospice, The Moorland Home and Heywood Youth Link.

Thank you for reading this and may I ask you to vote for me again on 22nd May.
