Rochdale In Bloom
The RHS Britain in Bloom competition is held every year with more than 3,000 groups participating to help improve their local villages, towns and cities. Benefits include cleaner, greener and safer surroundings, a growing sense of community pride, increased commercial enterprise and tourism and horticultural achievement.
Denehurst Park has featured in the regional North West in Bloom competition for the last 4 years (2016, 2017,2018 and 2019) with judges viewing the stumpery, sunken garden and herbaceous border, which was proudly restored by the friends group and the local community. In 2019 Denehurst Park was not only on the Rochdale juding route but was also put forawrd as a stand alone entry in the 'RHS Park' category winning a Silver Gilt award, which was an unbelievable first time entry acheivement.
Since 2016 Rochdale in Bloom has won the prestigeous Gold award in the North West in Bloom competition, winning overall in the 'Small City' category in 2019. In 2018 Rochdale in Bloom were nominated to represent the North West against the countries very best at the national Britian in Bloom Award competition, winning an increadible Gold award at the first time of asking.
Since 1964, the Royal Horticultural Society’s Britain in Bloom competition is one of the most effective, and longest running environmental competitions in the UK, with communities demonstrating their ability to create and maintain attractive environments that benefit all.
