Heywood Lions Club

Intro

Heywood Lions Club was formed in 1972 some 55 years after the formation of the International Association of Lions Clubs in 1917 and 22 years after the first club in the British Isles & Ireland, London Host, which was formed on 1 March 1950.

Since its formation members of the club have served the community in Heywood and many individuals and groups have benefited from their efforts.

From its early days bed pushing to Blackpool to the present day distributing Message In a Bottle, recycling spectacles and holding a Reading for Pleasure Club at a local primary school Heywood Lions continue to live up to their motto

“We Serve”

For a number of years the club has played a major role in organising the annual Heywood Charities Fete.
