Minutes of 107th meeting on 15th October 2013.
Present: Peter Evans (Chairman), Iain Gerrard, Keith Hallam, Barry Horner, John F Kay, Cllr Ann Stott JP, Jon Stopp (CRT), Roger Davis.
Apologies: Cynthia Davis, Helen Evans, Barbara Tunstall.
1. Minutes of last meeting (no.106) approved with following addition:
Cllr Ann Stott JP also sent her apologies.
2. Durn Marina.
2.1 No information.
3. Littleborough Volunteer Lengthsman Scheme (OWLS)
3.1 Up date of the scheme by JS.
3.2 JS will provide RD with a list of OWLS with their sections.
3.3 Bob Furnell attended the last meeting and expressed an interest in being an OWL, JS will contact him.
4. Akzo Nobel Site.
4.1 Woodford refused access to the site by anyone. JFK asked if we had this in writing. PE advised he felt BC had this.
4.2 PE had written to Mark Widdup at RMBC regarding a public meeting. At present he had not received a reply.
4.3 JFK felt we should get Woodford to state the site was not contaminated.
5. Canal & River Trust / Rochdale Canal Society.
5.1 Tour de France due July next year. Much discussion regarding route and parking. Indications are information will be forthcoming in the near future.
5.2 The Farmers Market and Craft Fair are due in that period and it would be ideal to have the Canal Festival at the same time.
5.3 The Rush Bearing Festival could follow in the week after.
6. The River Roch Valley Park.
6.1 Next meeting 6/11. JFK will raise the subject of contamination on the Akzo site.
6.2 IG advised Himalayan Balsam was affecting the canal and its environment.
7. Any Other Business.
7.1 Sue Milne has been appointed events manager at RMBC. Her contact number is 07812096513.
8. Next Meetings: Tuesdays 19 November 2013, 21 January 2014 and 18 February 2014. All at 19.30h in United Reformed Church, Victoria Street, Littleborough.
